HOSTING is the fee associated with the physical server space and bandwidth needed in order to have your website live and running fast 24/7/365. Hosting fees can be paid month to month, or yearly for peace of mind and possible discounts depending on your hosting plan. Our basic hosting fees start at $10.99 per month.

MAINTENANCE fees cover web content, graphic design and database updates needed to be performed by the web designer/developer if the website owner is not tech-savvy enough, or simply does not have the time to do so. These fees can be paid as needed by hourly rate, month to month, or quarterly/biannual/yearly to receive discounts.

For local clients (Summerville & Charleston area), we accept payments in the form of cash, checks, credit/debit cards, PayPal and  ACH transfers (bank to bank/wire).

The main reason we do not recommend using these types of platforms is because the content you upload into their system DOES NOT belong to you. Once you cancel your website with them, you will be left with zero or minimal content you can reuse, and will have to start from scratch if you need to build a website again. This is terrible for marketing purposes. And companies should always own their website content.

Also, their platforms are not that intuitive to use. They claim to be a simple “drag and drop” interface, but you still need to know at least graphic design and web design basics to come up with a website that looks good and professional, and that functions properly. Most people do not achieve this on their own, and end up frustrated.

Both Squarespace and Wix start their hosting plans at $16 per month. Once you choose a theme or template, you cannot modify elements in an easy manner, therefore customizing your site’s look is nearly impossible unless you modify the design files (CSS), but again, if you are not familiar with web programming, you will have to settle for a premade theme or template that tons of other companies are using as well.

The only time we would recommend a premade and/or “free” website design, is if you need a small shopping cart (eCommerce) website, 20 products or less, and don’t want to deal with the pricier set-up and design fees associated with building this type of website from scratch, and are OK with not owning your store content 100%.

We recommend Shopify. But be aware all premade platforms charge you additional transaction fees per purchase, besides the credit card processing fees unless you use all of their preferred settings and apps.
